8th dan Kyoshi. I became the 3rd generation head of Shodokan dojo at 22 yrs. of age. I am the Vice-President and Director of Suginami Kendo Federation and also lecture at Oberlin Univ. I recently established an online kendo salon “The Kendo Innovation Laboratory” to interactively explore and guide technology to the ideal direction. Branches in Europe such as French Shodokai and Shodokan Vonde.

Kendo & Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo)

Details
  • Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy): practice hiragana and kanji letters using the calligraphy brush and black ink (sumi). The teacher will think of a beautiful kanji describing your name to practice. The tip of a brush is like the tip of the shinai (bamboo sword); your mind must focus from the sole of your feet to the tip of your equipment.
